Reading Allen Carr's The Easy Way to Stop Smoking can be a positive experience if you're looking to end your relationship with tobacco. The book, written by a former chain-smoker, has sold 15 million copies in its 30 years on the market. The techniques Carr suggests have worked for many looking for help quitting smoking%(). With this book, unfortunately, the number of pieces I liked paled in comparison to the number of pieces that were either boring or, strangely, offensive. I say "strangely" because I don't consider myself to be a delicate flower who cannot handle a book about drinking, smoking, and screwing/5. The basic premise of the book is that quitting smoking is easy and fun. The word "yippee" appears more than once. If you think of quitting as if you're giving something up, you're destined to fail. I bought the stop smoking book about or and did find it useful at the time (though ultimately I did start smoking again). I remember thinking at the time that some of what I was reading could also be applied to stopping drinking so it didn't come as any surprise when I later learned he'd written a similar book about alcohol.
